The question of the current character of Chinese society and the direction in which it is developing is the subject of controversial debate within the communist movement. Within our party, we have taken a clear and unified position on this question from the very beginning: Monopoly capitalist conditions prevail in China and China is embedded in a global imperialist system. This position is questioned and disputed by parts of the communist movement in Germany, but the discussions on this were often not well-founded. In order to close this gap and make our position clear, a comrade of the CP, Thanasis Spanidis, has explained the position in detail on behalf of the organization.

On March 17 - 19, 2023, the 25th Party Congress of the German Communist Party (DKP) took place. Focus was placed on a motion which, when passed, ultimately meant that the party’s Central Committee (CC) pushed through a line of support for Chinese capitalism. We see four main problems in the resolution, which we will outline in this critique.

Im Mittelpunkt stand unter anderem ein Antrag, mit dessen Beschluss der Parteivorstand eine Linie der Unterstützung des chinesischen Kapitalismus in der Partei durchgesetzt hat. Wir sehen vier Hauptprobleme in dem Beschluss, die wir in dieser Kritik skizzieren wollen.
